Bethlehem to Ramallah

by Daniel Kelly – 2025

          G                Em
Can you spare a room in Palestine,
       C            G
For a mother and a child,
     Am                 D
We’ve just come up from Bethlehem,
              C       D
Where the father was exiled,
They’ve taken him to prison now,
I don’t know what to do,
I am tired, scared and hungry,
     C         D       G
And my options are so few,

         Em             D
Just a stable, for the Lord,
     C         G
Is all I can afford,
          C                  G
I was promised flights of angels,
          C                  G
And gold presents from the king,
     Am            Em
But the army of Jerusalem,
     C    D     G
Left me with nothing,

The Roman soldiers mock me,
As walk amongst the stone,
And the twisted steel and concrete,
That was once so many homes,
I can hear the missiles falling,
And fires burning wild,
But I have a child that needs me,
And the world still needs my child,

I see a star above us,
Burning brightly in the sky,
Is it there to light the way,
A beacon to steer by,
Or is it just another drone,
Waiting to drop its hate,
On a mother and a child,
Who learned the truth too late,
