When I asked you to build me a shelter,
                                  C
I didn’t mean from the wind and the rain,
     C                  G
I wanted something to protect me,
          D                  G
If I’m hit by a low flying plane.

There’s Bus shelters made out of iron,
          C             Em        D
There’s Bus shelters made out of glass,
     C                            G    C
But the Bus shelters made out of concrete,
     D                  C         G
Are the best ones for saving your ass.

Clem Cummings was once in the Army,
And he knew all the dangers of war,
So a bus shelter fit for 105mm round,
Was functional, bomb-safe and more,

You’ve seen all the delights of Canberra,
The penis shaped Owl and the Tower,
But about every 500 hundred meters,
Out the window you’ll still feel the power,

So here’s to the Canberra bomb shelters,
The orange and white toilet rolls,
That keep us safe waiting for buses,
On our way to stare at blue poles.
